On 6 and 7 June, starting at 10 a.m., the ARECA seminar will take place, led by the project’s team of sociologists. This seminar will consist of conferences, debates, round tables, practical workshops and exhibitions related to the work of these two years of the project.
The first day will be held at the premises of Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and the second at Escola Secundária João de Barros, in Corroios, Seixal.
The seminar programme will be announced shortly.

On 5 June, starting at 7 p.m., artists, teachers and students from three countries will gather at the Jesús Ibañez de Matauco Theatre in Vitoria-Gasteiz for the final performances of three adaptations of shows by Portuguese choreographer Cláudia Dias, worked on during the 2024-25 academic year. In each territory, these structures and artists worked with students on a piece from Cláudia Dias’ creative cycle “Sete Anos Sete Peças”. They collaboratively explore both performative practices and creative writing and critical thinking through teaching methodologies common to the entire project.
In “𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗔–𝗙𝗘𝗜𝗥𝗔”, the Portuguese adaptation of ‘Quarta-Feira: o tempo das cerejas’, students explore five imaginary cities: the difficult-to-understand city, the city divided in half, the crooked city, the futuristic city, and the city invaded by nature. For each of them, different artistic resources were used, such as drawing, object manipulation, musical composition and interpretation, theatre, text writing, and choreography.
In “𝗘́𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗨𝗡𝗔 𝗩𝗘𝗭 𝗨𝗡 𝗝𝗨𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗦”, the Spanish adaptation of ‘Quinta-feira: Abracadabra‘, students invoke, like a mantra, the magic words that evoke stories that evoke other stories. Stories that, above all, summon us to the here and now, in shared listening. Telling and listening. Telling and listening. What stories do they tell us? What stories do they not tell us? What stories do we want to tell? What stories do we want them to tell us? Who tells the stories? Who do they tell in the stories they tell us?
In “𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜”, a French adaptation of ‘Sexta-feira: o fim do mundo… ou então não’, the students talk about youth, with a play and dance piece about current aspirations and realities. The young women on stage unite their dreams in a collective experience in which choreographed movements merge with words. It is an invitation to think, feel and share, creating a dialogue between generations.

On 3 June 2025, at 7 p.m., the Rouge Elea team will present for the first time ‘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜’, a French adaptation of the play ‘Sexta-feira: o fim do mundo… ou então não’ at Halles de Gaztelu in Hendaye.

On 1 June 2025, at 6 p.m., the Sete Anos team will present for the first time “𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗔–𝗙𝗘𝗜𝗥𝗔”, a Portuguese adaptation of the play ‘Quarta–feira: O tempo das cerejas’at the Municipal Auditorium of the Seixal Cultural Forum in Portugal.
In this adaptation, the students explore five imaginary cities: the city that is difficult to understand, the city divided in half, the crooked city, the futuristic city, and the city invaded by nature. On 18, 19, 20 and 21 November, the ARECA team (Pé de Cabra, Sete Anos, ISCTE-UL, AZALA and Rouge Elea) will be in a presential artistic capacity-building residency at the Azala space in Victoria-Gasteiz (Spain).
This residency includes practical sessions with Sete Anos, AZALA and Rouge Elea, administrative management of the project with Pé de Cabra, a literature review with ISCTE_UL sociologists and communication planning with AZALA.

CENTRO RECREATIVO DA CRUZ DE PAU, AMORA (SEIXAL, PORTUGAL)
“Watch out for the right!” was Cláudia Dias’ message when, around 2016, Portugal was suffering the austerity measures of a right-wing government that did everything in its power to run them into the ground. Now, in 2023, on the 50th anniversary of their freedom, with democracy under threat once again, these students force us to look to the right once more, but also above our heads: the attacks transcend the physical barriers of a country, and in other places the attacks arrive from the sky, materialised in drones dropping bombs.
In “Monday and Tuesday”, these students combine the fight (physical and in words) of their ambitions and their history, with a look outside their bubble, embracing other realities that, although distant and more violent, can be felt close through empathy. There will be a ring, boxing gloves, fist fights and words, as well as lines that tell stories and show us a reality that we don’t see, or that we choose not to see.
ESPAÇO ACOME + ACADEMIA ALMADENSE (ALMADA, PORTUGAL)
It was an intense few days in Almada! ARECA’s first face-to-face capacity-building session brought together the team from Portugal and the Basque Country (Euskadi) at Espaço ACOME and Academia Almadense. The days were filled with fruitful discussions that touched on various points of our activity:
The partners also had the opportunity to attend sessions with the students.
